Mangaluru: Top brass of Mangaluru polic assured members of SC/ST community that complaints regarding misuse of technology to harass individuals, spread rumors or create social ill will, will be dealt on top priority. Suitable instruction will be given to all station house officers (SHOs) to register case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and even IPC as the case may be and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book, they said.
When a member of Dalit Rights Committee pointed that city police has a baggage of many unsolved cases pertaining to SC/ST, police said department is reviewing all such cases for effective follow up.
Police will also activate departmental mechanism that mandates periodic updates of the case to the complainants, he said adding officers of rank of DSP and above will personally supervise and review progress in cases registered under SC/ST Act.
