Published On : 11 Jul 2018

Mangaluru: Some of the city residents received huge shock when they received the water bills a few days ago. One resident who runs a hotel and normally received a water bill around Rs 1,600, received a bill for Rs 18,000. Similarly, another whose bill was Rs 80 normally every month got a a bill for Rs 800.

A decade has past since a private company is appointed to raise water bills in the city. Due to many complaints from some n parts of the city not getting water bills, the MCC assigned personnel from its malaria control unit to carry out this work.

Due to the assembly elections in May and the untrained new staff, it was not possible for the MCC to provide water bills to all the 60 wards of the corporation. In addition, two months of April and May were considered as the training period for the staff deputed from the malaria control unit.

City Mayor K Bhaskar Moily has revealed that he has initiated steps to solve the matters.
