One dead in accident near Maravanthe

Byndoor: A collision between two cars on the National Highway 66 near Maravanthe claimed the life of one person on Monday. Nine others were injured in the mishap. A Maruti car was heading towards Udupi from Goa and a Swift car was proceeding towards Byndoor from Mangaluru.

Dhana Pandyan (36) from MG Road, Bengaluru who was driving the Maruti car died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. His children Kamali (4), Nidarshan (8), mother Saroja (65), father Kamashi (68) and wife Vasuki (32) have sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to Manipal Hospital.

Those in the Swift car namely Sujatha (44), Krishna (52) and two others were also injured and are undergoing treatment at Chinmayi Hospital, Kundapur. Gangolli Police have registered a case.
