Police commissioner inspects prepaid auto rickshaw booth

Published On : 07 May 2017

Mangaluru: City police commissioner M Chandra Shekar along with other police officers inspected central railway station to check the status of prepaid auto rickshaw booth on Saturday, May 5.

Addressing media persons, the police commissioner said, “During the phone-in programme, we are receiving frequent complaints against prepaid auto rickshaws. But some auto drivers charge excessive amount to the passengers, even after prepaid auto rickshaw counter started functioning,”

“RTO has given this prepaid counter on a contract basis and at the same time it needs to function smoothly without troubling the passengers. It would be easy for the passengers if the auto fares are displayed on the counter to avoid further confusion. If we find any auto drivers charging more than actual fares, then we will take stringent action against the drivers under MV act and make sure their license will be cancelled.” he added.
