Police receives aplenty calls in its first phone-in programme

Mangaluru: In the wake of publicity regarding weekly ’phone-in’ programme launched by City Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar Aug 5, Friday; it is reported that he got 24 calls, with most of them related to traffic.

A total of 10 calls were related to traffic menace - especially at the prominent junctions. A caller complained that the city buses were stopping in the middle of the road while boariding the passengers near Kulashekar and Kudupu temple.

There was also a call complimenting the police for addressing traffic woes near MRPL, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited cargo gate at Surathkal. Barricades kept on the National Highway have helped in preventing mishaps, lauded another.

There were also a few suggestions from the public to train private bus drivers on road safety awareness.
