Udupi: The district chief and sessions court sentenced Monappa Parava (55) from Kelaginamane in Punkadabettu Shirthottu, Kanthavar village in Karkala guilty of raping a lady and posing death threat to her, him.
Judge of the court, Venkatesh Naik, has ordered Parava to undergo ten years of jail term under section 376 (rape), and six months addtional jail term under section 506 (death threat), through a judgment delivered on Tuesday October 24.
Monappa Parava was the uncle of the distressed girl. He was accused of visiting the girl when she was sleeping alone on the night of June 11, 2015, threatening her and raping her. After a complaint was made, station house officer of Karkala rural station had investigated the case and filed a charge sheet.
