Udupi: A gang of thieves broke into two houses at Ambalpady in Kidiyoor village and made good with gold and silver ornaments estimated at Rs. 10.2 lakh. According to the police, Diwakar Poojary locked his house at Kidiyoor and gone abroad with his family on December 5.
The theft came to light when Poojary returned home on Thursday. Though Poojary had given the ground floor of his house on rent, the tenants too were away in Mangaluru for the last three days.
The valuables taken away from Poojary’s house were estimated at Rs. 10 lakh. The other valuables valued at Rs. 20,000 were from Poojary’s tenant’s house.
