Rs 5 lakh cash robbed from arecanut merchant

Mangaluru: Rs 5 lakh cash was robbed by a group of dacoits from an arecanut merchant at gun point in Bellare , Sullia Taluk on Monday. The merchant is Abdul Khader.

Abdul was on his way to shop at Guttigaru from his residence at Bellare. A gang of miscreants came in a SUV, intercepted the car that he was driving just 4kms from his residence. They fled from the spot taking away the cash from his vehicle .

The gang who intercepted the Khader’s vehicle quickly ensured that there was one of them at each its door and threatened them with a pistol and knives. They also took away the mobile phones that Khader and his co-passengers were carrying with them. The occupants who were shell-shocked at the brazen manner in which they were robbed failed to note details of the getaway vehicle.

One of the dacoits had covered his face with a mask, the rest had not done so. They were speaking in Hindi.
