Mangaluru (The Hindu): Different Christian denominations would come together to celebrate Christmas under one banner, ‘Sauhardha Christmas – 2015’, on December 12 at Milagres Hall Complex, Mangaluru, from 5.30 p.m. The celebration is organised by Mangalore Christian Council in association with Mangalore Diocesan Educational Commission, Karnataka Christian Educational Society, Mangalore Diocesan Chair in Christianity, Mangalore University, Karnataka Mission Network, and All Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights. Members of various denominations, Christian institutions and faith communities would entertain the audience with the Christmas message through music, singing, dance and drama. The event is open to the public, said a release.


POWER SHUTDOWN

Power supply would be affected in areas around Baikampady between 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday as KPTCL would be undertaking emergency maintenance of 110 kV Kavoor-Baikampady line, said a release from MESCOM here. The areas affected are, NMPT, HPCL, UPCL, Bright Packagers, Ruchi Soya, Rajashree Packages, BASF, NITK, Bharat Barrel, Ambuja Cement, Coastal Chip Board, Tannirbhavi, Meenakaliya, Hosabettu, Chitrapura, Baikampady, Baikampady Industrial Area, Panambur, Kodikal, Kottara, Bengre, Thota Bengre, Kasaba Bengre, Kudroli Bengre, Surathkal, Mulki, Katipalla, Kinnigoli, Chelyar, Kuthettur, Haleyangadi, Kateel, Mukka, Sasihithlu, and surrounding areas.


HOPCOMS OUTLET TO BE OPENED

Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim and Zilla Panchayat CEO P.I. Shreevidya would inaugurate a Hopcoms outlet at Padeel Junction on Wednesday at 9.30 am. The Karnataka State Horticulture Cooperative Federation and district Hopcoms units are opening the outlet as well as the warehouse, said an official release here.


AADHAAR REGISTRATION TEMPORARILY HALTED

Following government’s decision to offer Aadhaar cards to students in their respective schools, the district administration has temporarily suspended Aadhaar registration for general public at Atalji Janasnehi Kendras in the district. Aadhaar kits at Janasnehi Kendras in Mangaluru A, Mulki, Banwal, Vitla, Puttur, Uppinangadi, Panja, Venur, Kokkada, Moodabidri, and Kadaba have been diverted for the special Aadhaar registration drive in schools, said an official release.
