Swachh Mangaluru Mission sees Kadri, Shivabagh gets a nice facelift

Mangaluru (TOI): Ramakrishna Mission carried out the 23rd Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan in Shivabagh and Kadri Market area on Sunday. Aniruddh Nayak, manager and Dr Satish Rao, psychiatrist flagged off the drive in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji and Ganesh Karnik, MLC. More than 100 volunteers, devotees and well-wishers of the Mission, NSS students and Red Cross members and Students from Government First Grade College, Car Street participated.

The bus stand at Shivabagh in Kadri used by scores did not have seating arrangements thus posing problems mainly to the aged. Volunteers of Swachh Mangaluru cleaned the bus stand, erected some cement seats and painted the bus shelter, giving a facelift through renovation. Heaps of garbage was thrown in Kadri market area. Volunteers under the leadership of K V Sathyanarayana collected two tippers of garbage with help of earth excavator machine and disposed it.

Two more bus shelters in the Kadri market area were thoroughly cleaned of the garbage and heaps of stones and mud and were painted anew. Some direction boards too which were too old to serve the purpose were repainted and given a new look thus helping the public. Volunteers also distributed Swacch Mangaluru awareness pamphlets among residents and public of Kadri Mallikatte and Shivabagh area. MRPL, principal patron of the event sponsored the drive.
