Mangaluru: From April 1 onwards, all the five toll plazas in the twin districts will be collecting enhanced charges from vehicles plying through them. The two toll plazas at Brahmarakootlu and NITK Suratkal fall directly under the jurisdiction of National Highways Authority of India. The plazas located at Talapady, Gundmi and Hejamady are run by Navauga Udupi Tollway Private Limited. In all these plazas, almost all the rates will undergo upward revision from April 1.
At the NITK tollgate in Suratkal, fee for light vehicles for one way journey will remain at Rs 50 as in the past. However, for return journey on the same day, the ticket charge will be Rs 75 as against the previous 70. Monthly passes henceforth will be priced at Rs 1,670 instead of 1,600. For commercial vehicles registered in the district, fee will be Rs 25 as before.
Charges for light commercial transport vehicles, mini buses etc have been maintained ar Rs 80, but two-way ticket for the same day will cost Rs 120 instead of earlier Rs 115. Monthly pass will cost Rs 2,695 in place of Rs 2,585. For local commercial vehicles, the fee has been retained at Rs 40. For buses, trucks etc, one way journey will cost Rs 170 and Rs 255 for two-way journey on the same day. Monthly pass will cost Rs 5,650. Vehicles registered inside the district will be priced higher at Rs 85. Fee has also been hike for vehicles with over three axles, heavy commercial vehicles, vehicles over seven axles etc. For non-commercial vehicles located within 20 km of the toll plazas, monthly pass of Rs 255 will have to be obtained.
In Navayuga tolls, Rs 40 will be charged for one way journey for light vehicles at Talapady and Rs 35 at Hejamady. For two-way journey on the same day, Rs 65 in Gundmi, Rs 50 at Hejamady, and Rs 55 at Talapady. Monthly passes will cost Rs 1,395 at Gundmi, Rs 1,145 at Hejamady and Rs 1,255 at Talapady.
