Published On : 25 Sep 2015

Kundapur: Kota police have successfully managed to arrest two men from Shivamogga on the charges of setting afire a fancy store in Sasthan during the wee hours of August 28. The two have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

The fancy shop which was damaged was Mandara Fancy store owned by Praveen Gundmi and was located on Kodi Fisheries Road. Initially it was suspected to be an accident, the traces of petrol found outside the shop gave room for doubts that the shop was deliberately set on fire by someone. Praveen was a local Hindu group leader and it was expected that this work was done by other community people.

However this was planned by a person named Abhishek, who is still in hiding. He contacted the duo Vighnesh Kanchan and Sharath from Balikere near Kota and asked them to burn the shop in exchange of liquor. The shop was set on fire with the hope that it would be thought to be an act of members of another community. The duo ran way to Shivamogga and stayed in their friend's place. However the Kota police personnel traced them.

Police are presently searching for the prime accused Abhishek and other accused namely Charan, Shashikumar and Bharath.
