Two day national level seminar and workshop to be held to mark World Photography Day

Manipal: School of Communication, a constituent unit of Manipal University and Udupi Press Photographers Association jointly intends to conduct a two day national level seminar and workshop to mark World Photography Day on Aug 19th and 20th of 2016.

On 19th Aug, Sudharak Olwe, renowned Mumbai based documentary photographer will conduct a seminar on Photography. His work has been exhibited in Mumbai, Delhi, Malmo, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Washington and Dhaka. He has drawn immense admiration and awe in the Indian subcontinent for revealing the naked reality of life’s tragicomic social theater. In 2005, he was one of the four awardees for the National Geographic's "All Roads Photography Program" . He was awarded Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors for his social work in 2016.

On the same day, some of Karnataka’s reputed photo journalists are expected to take part in a panel discussion about Photo Journalism along with Sudharak Olwe and Astro Mohan.

On 20th Aug, Astro Mohan will conduct a workshop on ‘the past, present and future of photo journalism’. Mr. Astro Mohan has earned over 248 National & International prestigious awards till date. His picture “Karavali Kambala” bagged the First Prize in an International Level Photography Competition, held by Nikon in United Kingdom. He has travelled and exhibited his photo’s worldwide and also been felicitated by various photography associations.

He was recently honored by the Karnataka Media Academy in Bangalore.

This being a national level seminar and workshop targeting photography enthusiasts which includes students, photographers and journalists, we request you kindly depute one or two young journalists/ photo journalists to attend the two day event. The registration fee is Rs. 600 for two days that includes supplies, snacks and lunch on both the days. Certificates will be provided to each participant. The deputies’ will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation.
