Published On : 23 Jan 2018

Mangaluru: The district police have urged two-wheeler riders to mandatorily wear helmets of good quality bearing ISI or BSI mark on them. Police said it had come to their notice that many riders and pillion riders were wearing helmets of substandard quality, which has resulted in severe injuries and even deaths during accidents.

These poor-quality head gear are usually purchased from vendors on road-sides. The riders and pillion riders should buy good quality helmets with ISI and BSI marks/ If the riders or pillion riders are found wearing poor-quality helmets, legal action would be taken against them by the police.

People can pass on information regarding illegal manufacture or sale of such substandard helmets by calling 100 or 0820-2526709; or they can inform the nearest police station.
