Udupi wants to be free from garbage by Oct 2,2018

Udupi: Udupi district administration has come up with the unique task wherein the district would be ensured as garbage-free by October 2, 2018 through increasing the garbage value and transforming every bit of garbage into productivity.

District-In charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj said, "The district is under intensive package programme. The programme is adopted in order to utilise the available garbage in the effective manner. The garbage generated will help to mobilise the revenue which will help the rural and urban local bodies to function. Solid waste management project will be taken up elaborately by taking the public into confidence."

Udupi DC Priyanka Mary Francis said that programme will be taken up separately in urban and rural areas. Three gram panchayats, namely Varamballi, Nitte and Gangolli are taken up and the project will be completely implemented in four months, following which the project will be taken up in all other gram panchayats.
