Young Diabetics all set to get trained to lead normal life

Manipal: Educational Program for the Young Diabetics to make them fit to lead a normal life is being organised from 9.00am onwards on Saturday at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. The Educational & Training Program includes General screening and physician examination of the participants. There would be medical experts who would interact with the children, adolescents and young people along with their parents.

The program commences with inspirational testimonials of young people living with diabetes but have come out successful to motivate other diabetic patients. Practical Yogic exercise demonstration to maintain their physical fitness and health is another important area of training program.

To face challenges of being a young diabetic, there are separate specialised sessions by the clinical psychologists for adolescent, adult patients and diabetic children along with their Parents. These sessions would provide ways and suggestions for appositive outlook in life

The Program includes interaction with specialists from the Dept of Dietetics and Nutrition to guide them about the aspects of healthy diet and diet habits. Free dental check-up by Manipal College of dental school (MCODS) and free eye check-up by ophthalmology department KH Manipal.

The participants registered for the “Young Diabetic Training Program” would be surveyed to identify the challenges they face as young diabetics and the organisers would come out with support programmes that eases their difficulties and make their life hassle free.
