Revenue inspector assaulted in front of taluk tahsildar

Beltangady: A revenue inspector who had visited Malady near Madantyar for spot inspection relating to land dispute was assaulted in the presence of the taluk tahsildar. A local named Guruprasad Shetty attacked revenue inspector from the town, Ravikumar.

Guruprasad was taken into custody by the police. Ramanna Shetty and his son, Guruprasad Shetty, had dispute pertaining to land at Paldottu in Malady village. Ramanna had filed court case against his son, alleging encroachment of his property. The court had delivered judgement in favour of Ramanna Shetty. Later, he complained to Puttur assistant commissioner about non-implementation of court order. To verify the ground reality and take suitable steps, revenue officials accompanied by police had visited the spot on Tuesday. In a fit of anger, Guruprasad Shetty assaulted revenue inspector.

A case was registered against him in Punjalkatte police station and he was produced in the court. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.
