2 killed in thunderstorms in district

Mangaluru: 2 persons died following thunderstorms and summer showers in the last two days in DK. A hotel owner, Sundara Poojary (48) near Bajpe died as a banyan tree fell on his hotel whereas Lavalesha (15), a Moodbidri resident died as a result of heavy lightening.

A number of electric poles, trees fell down, private, public properties, roads damaged properties in various parts of Dakshina Kannada district. Power was also shut down in many areas.

A slight respite from heat was also felt. However there were more losses than gains due to these rainfall.
