24-year-old arrested for selling old currency

Udupi: 24-year-old youth named Imran from Handelu in Puttige village in Dakshina Kannada district was arrested by the police personnel of the district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) on Monday May 25.

Imran has been charged with cheating people by selling them old currency notes of Brazil, which are not in circulation now. He had 574 currency notes bearing the name, Cruzado Banco Central Do Brasil with a face value of 500 Brazilian Reals each, and 92 currency notes of 100 Reals each, totalling 2,96,200 Brazilian currency (about Rs 59,24,000). The police have seized these currency notes from him.
