Udupi: On the occasion of decimal celebrations of Kobudo Budokan Karate – Do Karnataka, 3rd National level open invitational Karate Championship will be held on 23rd and 24th January, 2016 at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Udupi.

Speaking to media persons at Udupi press club, K. Udayakumar Shetty, Hon. President of Welcome Committee said that this championship will be blessed by Hon. President Sri Sri Laxmivaratheertha Swamiji and will be inaugurated by Dr. G. Shankar, Promoters of G. Shankar Family Trust which will be presided by Pramod Madwaraj, local MLA and Revenue Minister Parliamentary secretary.

Ring inauguration to be held by Shobha Karandlaje, MP Udupi Chikkmagalur Constituency and K. Raghupathy Bhat, former MLA. Black Belt to distributed by Vinay Kumar Sorake, district in charge minister and Minister of Urban Development, Govt. of Karnataka.

Kota Srinivas Poojary MLC, Suresh Shetty Gurme Industrialist, P Yuvaraj, President of Udupi CMC and many more personalities are to be guests during the occasion.

More than 2000 Karate competitors will participate from different states during the championship. Dr. G. Shankar pavilion will be the name for the ground of karate competition. Competitors from Goa, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andra Pradesh, Maharastra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are registered. More than 150 referees will look after the competitions.

Meanwhile, honoring ceremony to be held for various achievers and senior karate people will be honored.
