500 children take active part in 18th Orphanage Olympics

Mangaluru: Nearly 500 children from 10 orphanages in the city and various parts of the district made merry by taking part in various sports events organised as part of the 18th Annual Orphanage Olympics organised by Rotary Club of Mangaluru Central and Rotaract Club of Mangaluru City.

The event was held at Sharada High School and was inaugurated by Nitte University Chancellor Dr N Vinay Hegde. In his address he was all praise for the service activities of the Rotary which has brought joy to the orphan children.

President of Sharada Institutions M.B.Puranik was the guest of honour, in is address he advocated that the voluntary service organisations should strive hard to eliminate the social evil, inequality and backward feeling prevailing in the society.

President of the Club Anil Gonsalves welcomed, Asst. Governor zone II Vinayak Prabhu, Charter President Premanath Kudva, President of Rotaract Club of Mangaluru City Yathish Salian, Secretary Shivaprasad Bhat were present. Secretary Raymond D’Cunha proposed a vote of thanks. K.M.Hegde compeered the program.
