Alva's Virasat to be held from Jan 13 to 15

Mangaluru: Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva on Monday announced that the national-level cultural extravaganza 'Alva's Virasat - 2017' organised by the Alva's Education Foundation will be held on January 13 to 15 at Vanajakshi K Shripathi Bhat stage, Vivekananda Nagara, Puttige.


'Alva’s Virasat Award - 2017' will be conferred upon well-known Bharathanatyam artist Padmabhushan V P Dhananjay. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the programme and District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai will preside over it.

The inaugural day will be followed by a Karnataka and Hindustani musical concert consisting of mouth organ-flute fusion by Shashank Subramanyam, Praveen Godgindi, Vidhwan Bakthavathsalam and Pandith Shubankar Banerjee. 'Naadamadurya', a gathering of prominent instrument artists will be held on January 14.

On the third day, there will be a musical concert by bollywood playback singers Shaan and Payal Dev followed by a 'Ganarchan' by singers of Lathangi School of Music, Udupi.

On Sunday, January 15, 'Alva's Varna Virasat - 2017' will be awarded to Rajasthan's Reva Shankar Sharma. The famous drawing artiste will receive a citation and cash award of Rs 25,000.
