Mangaluru: Ashwin Pereira has been expelled from JD(S) party for six years. The move comes from the party after Ashwin Pereira decided to contest the forthcoming elections as an independent candidate, since the party denied him ticket for the elections.
Ashwin Pereira served as JD(S) Moodbidri president and was expecting party ticket from Moodbidri, but senior leader Amarnath Shetty was chosen instead. Amarnath Shetty backed out from contesting due to which the ticket was given to Jeevan Shetty.
JD(S) district committee president Mohammed Kunhi announced the decision and said without any respect for the party leadership’s decision, Ashwin Pereira filed the nomination as rebel candidate. As he violated he party principles and disobeyed the party JD(S) has expelled him for six years
