Athena Institute of Health Sciences -GRADUATION DAY –

Graduation Ceremony of Athena Institute of Health Sciences was held on 30.03.2023 at 4.00 pm in “Town Hall” Mangalore.

The programme was initiated with grandiose procession of the graduates accompanied by the band and salutation with the magnificent honour at the entrance of town hall. The president of the programme Mr. R.S. Shettian, Chairman, Chief Guest Rev. Sr. Irene Menezes, Provincial Superior, of Sisters of Charity, Mangalore province, Guest of Honour Dr. Judith Noronha, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing, Mrs. Asha Shettian Secretary, AIHS, Dr. Ashith Shettian, Trustee, AIHS, Sr. Deepa Peter Principal Athena College of Nursing, Dr. Nandini M Principal Athena Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Sr. Aileen Mathias, Vice Principal were offered a traditional Indian style with “Poornakumba Swagatham, followed by the Prayer dance performed by the second year B.sc Nursing students.

It was a time of celebration where students were lauded for the efforts they put in to obtain their degrees. There were 27 rank holders and 84 prize winners in various activities were awarded. 78 B.Sc. Nursing, 5 M.Sc. Nursing, 47 GNM Diploma holders and Allied Health B.Sc. Renal Dialysis 5 graduates; total 133 graduates received their degree certificates.

Sr. Irene Menezes, Provincial Superior of Sisters of Charity was the Chief Guest. She highlighted the dedication of nurses during pandemic of Covid -19 and called upon to be more compassionate after the example of Jesus Christ. She also said there is need of more nurses who has to practice empathy, advocacy, leadership and useful to the wounded society.

Dr. Judith Angelitta Noronha Dean of Manipal College of Nursing was the guest of honour, called upon the graduates that everyone holds a fortune in his/ her hand. We have to fly high taking the opportunities and making use of God given talents. Mr. R.S. Shettian, Chairman his presidential address asked the students to be ambassadors of the institution and studying further to bring about laurels to the Alma Mater.

Rev. Sr. Aileen Mathias, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering. Rev. Sr. Deepa Peter presented the annual report of the college and administered the oath to nurses. Dr. Nandini M Principal of Allied Health Sciences administered the oath to B.Sc. Renal Dialysis graduates.
Mrs. Hemalatha G Prof. OBG department read the names of B.Sc.(N) graduates, Mrs. Prashwin D Mello read the names of GNM nursing, Mrs. Jyothimol P V, Ms. Kavana P R, Mrs. Priyanka Hazel M D Souza presented the list of awardees. Mrs. Sunitha Cloudia Lobo Prof. Community Health department proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Juilet and Ms. Amrutha Krishnan compered the graduation ceremony. After the recession of the graduates cultural events were organized for the gathering. Around 1200 people consisting of graduates, parents, alumni, guests, staff and students witnessed the solemn celebration. Graduation dinner was served for all after the programme.
