Bethany congregation celebrates silver jubilee of 18 sisters

Mangaluru: The silver jubilee celebration of 18 Bethany sisters, who served in different parts of India and Tanzania, was held at Bethany Mother House Chapel, recently.

The thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration was officiated by Dr Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru, and was concelebrated by nine priests including the vicar general, Fr Denis Moras Prabhu.

The Bishop appreciated the services of Bethany sisters in the diocese of Mangaluru and different parts of the country and the world. Fr Melwyn D'Souza OFM, superior of St Ann's Friary, during his homily, lauded the Bethany sisters for their outstanding services in the remote areas of the country especially in the field of education. “Bethany sisters taught me to read and write. They inspired me to become a priest,” he said.

Each of the silver jubilarian was felicitated by Sr Rose Celine, the superior general who profusely thanked the 18 sisters for their dedicated life after the example of Jesus.
