Beltangady: In an unfortunate incident on Saturday May 28, a practitioner of black magic, reportedly raped a 11-year-old girl at Nidle village.

The parents of the girl had taken the girl to the house of Shekhar Nalke from Gatranda in Nidle village on Saturday morning. The practitioner of native medicines, who is popular in the area, reportedly took in the girl and asked the parents to stand outside in the guise of giving her medicines and also to tie a thread around her wrist to stop evil forces from spoiling her health. He reportedly led the girl to the bathroom located in the rear side of his house where the girl was raped. He then posed death threats to the girl, warning her against informing others about what transpired there.

The parents, who saw that the girl was weeping when she emerged from the backside of the house of the doctor, questioned her. She told them about her horrid experience after which they filed police complaint. The girl was subjected to medical test. Dharmasthala police, who have registered the case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, have taken the accused into custody for investigation.
