Bola Rakesh Poojary wins two gold medals at International Karate Championship

Karkala: Bola Rakesh Poojary, a national karate champion has announced his arrival on the international platform by recently winning two gold medals at the International Karate Championship held here.

Rakesh hails from the historical village of Bola in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka state in India and is the son of Harish Poojary, the chief priest of 'Bola Mallige Shree Brahmabaidarkala Garadi' and his wife Pramila Harish Poojary.

Rakesh is an established national karate champion, having won a total of 30 medals, including 18 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Till April 30, Rakesh had insufficient funds to participate in the event but sponsors from Bola Shree Brahmabaidarkala Seva Sangha came to his aid. Inspite of the difficulties he faced, he made his people proud by winning two gold medals.
