Book exhibition at St Philomena College Puttur

Puttur: In view of National Library Week Celebration (Nov 14-21), Library and Information Centre of St Philomena College Puttur organized ‘Book Exhibition’ from November 2 to November 30, 2016 in Library Hall of the College.

The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha inaugurated the Book Exhibition programme and said, ‘Books remain our prime weapon in the light against illiteracy and opening the door to knowledge, essential to individual self-esteem and empowerment.’

The Librarian Mr. Abdul Rahiman G in his introductory speech said, ‘Under the UGC assistance, the College has purchased various types of books worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs and kept in this exhibition. These books are available to the students to increase their knowledge and understanding on various subjects.’

The PRO Prof. Dinakara Rao, faculty members Mr. Prashanth Rai, Mr. Basthyam Pais, library staff Mr. John Lobo, Mrs. Zita Noronha, Mrs. Catherine Crasta, Mr. Peter Clifford D’Souza and PU Librarian Mr. Santhosh Moras were present on this occasion. The members of Library Advisory Committee Mrs. Geetha Poornima K proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Vijaya Kumar M compered the programme.

Puttur: The Library and Information Centre of St Philomena College Puttur organized ‘Book Exhibition’ programme on October 16, 2019 in Library hall.

The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha inaugurated the exhibition and delivered the inaugural address. He said, ‘Book is the best companion of knowledge seekers. Library plays a pivotal role in higher education. Library is a store house of knowledge and information. Librarian is a person who always extends his helping hand to the readers. The faculties and the students must cultivate the habit of visiting the library in regular manner.’

The Selection Grade Librarian Mr Abdul Rahman G welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory speech. He said, ‘This library is well equipped with Text books, General books, Reference books, Literature and Value education books, periodicals, bound volumes of journals, news papers and educational CD/DVDs. It is computerized and library database is created using Integrated Library Management Software EASYLIB. Barcode technology is used for easy transaction. In this exhibition, newly arrived text books, reference books and general books are displayed.’

The Library staff Mrs. Zita Noronha, Mrs. Catherine Crasta, Mr. Peter Clifford D’Souza and Library Advisory Committee members Dr Chandrashekar K, Mrs. Premalatha K, Mrs. Geetha Poornima K coordinated the programme. Mrs. Bharathi S Rai proposed the vote of thanks.
