Businessman Jagadish Shetty Maravooru dies

Mangaluru: Well known businessman Jagadish Shetty Maravooru (68) died due to a cardiac arrest on Monday. He is survived by wife and a daughter. He was admitted at a private hospital in Mangaluru five days ago due to his ill health. He experienced chest pain all of a sudden at 11 am and passed away soon after that.

He had taken special initiative to maintain harmony between Hindus and Muslims. He had started a Sauharda committee at Bajpe and settled several cases in compromise. Local people say that several cases that had climbed the court steps were settled out of court due to his intervention.

He was well known for his generous donation. Though he was not well educated, he tried his best to educate deprived children. He started a popular English medium school in Bajpe and provided education to children in English. He owned two hotels in Mumbai by the name Popular Hotels.
