Carmel College Modankap celebrates feast of patroness

Bantwal: Carmel College Modankap recently celebrated 150 years of the Apostolic Carmel congregation and the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The Apostolic Carmel congregation was formed by Mother Veronica in France, Bayonne – Pau on July 16, 1968.

Today, there are around 2,000 sisters continuing the mission of Jesus Christ through education and other apostolic ministries in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Rome, Kenya and France.

Fr Ashwin L Crasta, assistant parish priest of Infant Jesus church, Bantwal was the chief guest. In his addressal he appreciated the performance of the students and encouraged them to inspire others through good deeds.

The principal of the Carmel College, Prof Sr M Supriya AC wished everyone a very happy feast.

The singnificance of the day and glimpses of the Apostolic Carmel congregation was shown through PPT and videos.

The joy of the celebration was expressed by dance, skit and songs.

The programme was compered by Babitha, II BBA while Gaurav of III BCom welcomed the gathering. Bhavyashree of III BCom delivered the vote of thanks. Sr Latha Fernandes AC, the vice principal and Vinitha Veigas lecturer in Business Administration and Joel Mascarenhas lecturer in Commerce co-ordinated the programme.
