Carmel School, St Ann TTI and PPTTI holds annual sports meet

Mangaluru: Carmel School, St Ann’s TTI and PPTTI structured annual sports meet 2018-19 was held at the police parade ground.

The dignitaries of the day Sr Maria Kripa, superior of St Ann’s convent and joint secretary of St Ann’s Campus Institutions, Fr J B Crasta, rector of the Cathedral of Most Holy Rosary, Vincent Colaco, assistant commissioner of Income Tax were accorded a wholehearted welcome with the guard of honour by the symphonic rhythm of the school band led by Roshini under the proficient guidance of Vijay Olivera.

The propitious occasion initiated with a supplication to God Almighty by the students of St Ann’s TTI and PPTTI.

Sr Sarika, principal of Carmel CBSE School, addressed the guests with her sweet flowing words of affable welcome followed by a scintillating welcome dance by students of Carmel School. The chief guest Vincent Colaco, took the salute of the impressive march past that helped in creating responsible citizens for a country as it fostered the qualities of unity, practice team work, leadership, concentration, hard work, rhythmic movement and discipline.

Sr.Maria Kripa declared the sports meet open.

The torch relay commenced then. It is a flame of hope, purity and the endeavour for perfection. Sports champs participated in the torch run.The sports day was inaugurated by releasing balloons by Fr J B Crasta representing the aspirations of contestants to participate and individually reach for the sky in their efforts.

Vaishnavi, the sports secretary of Carmel School, pledged the oath that the competitors would take part in field and track events, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship for the glory of sport and the honour of the teams. The audience next witnessed various displays assuring the fact that the students are not only intellectually and spiritually balanced and well tuned but also we possess stamina, speed, strength, skill and spirit.

Sr Maria Kripa in her presidential address opined that one cannot achieve greatness unless one puts in hard work, discipline, energy and enthusiasm. Nishitha Shetty, student of PPTTI issued message of thanks.Varshitha, Prenisha,Nidhi, Muzaifa, Zahwa compered the programme.

After the formal programme, a plethora of athletic events got the adrenaline roaring.

The sports meet concluded with a marvelous closing ceremony. The event was brightened up by the presence of Sr Rose Agnes, assistant provincial superior, Dr Leo Francis Tauro, surgeon, professor and HOD department of Surgery, Fr Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, and Abdul Latheef, corporator, Mangaluru City Corporation, Prashanth Mendon, Victor of state level masters aquatic contest. M Nagaraju is the winner of All India Postal Wrestling Tournament held at Aurangabad. Physical directors are Karunakar and Sachitha. Prayer dance commenced on the occasion, followed by a wide array of colourful and reverberant events by students of classes II to X. Sr Rose Agnes in her presidential address and the chief guests cheered up the students by their exhilarating messages and honoured the winners of the sports contests with awards and medals. Dr. Leo Tauro, the chief guest for the valedictory, declared the sports meet close.
