Charitable Activities Marked the Celebration of Founder’s Day at Crossland College.

In a unique initiative, Crossland College on the occasion of Founder’s Day, the death anniversary of its founder – Dr. C. T Abraham, conducted a blood donation camp, a free eye checkup camp and ran the ‘Handful of Rice with Love’ project. Conducted by the NSS and Youth Red Cross Wing of the college and in association with KMC Manipal, the staff, faculty, students and alumni of Crossland donated 61 units of blood on Wednesday. The free eye checkup organised in association with Prasad Nethralaya, Udupi benefited students and the local community. And, under the ‘Handful of Rice with Love’ project, the college collected a handful of rice from students faculty and staff, contributing a total of two quintals rice along with Rs. 7,945 to Spandana, a home for the differently abled based in Thenkabettu. Student representatives, faculty members and the Principal visited Spandana to personally handover the contribution, spend time with the residents and shared food packets with them. A practice that has been dedicatedly taken up by the college on the occasion of Founder’s Day every year, Mr. Janardhan, in-charge of Spandana, thanked and complimented the college for its continuing support.

Late Dr. C T Abraham is the founder of Crossland College, Little Rock Indian School and Indian Theological Seminary. “It is his altruism that saw the birth of Crossland College, a college for the lesser privileged students in the locality and even after his passing, we wish to continue his legacy and at the same time, encourage our students to practice giving back to the society in whatever way they can”, the Principal was quoted as saying.
