Puttur: In order to share the happiness of Christmas with the well wishers of the college St Philomena College and St Philomena P U College had organized a Christmas get together on December 23, 2015 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the College.
Prof. B.J Suvarna, Former HOD of Physics of the College participated as the chief guest. In his address he said, ‘India is a land of variety of religions and cultures. Here, there are lots of festivals which are celebrated with their own rituals and traditions. Christmas is the festival of Christians. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fun filled activities. The people of other religions also take part in the Christmas celebrations which proves the unity in diversity of India.’
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Campus Director and Chairperson of PG Studies and Research Centre in his presidential address said that Jesus Christ was a great leader. The life and teachings of Jesus Christ are the motivations for all of us. He always thought about the wellbeing of the people. Today, we celebrate Christmas in a very special manner by inviting each and every person, who is responsible for the growth and development of this institution. He concluded by wishing everyone to have a peaceful, holy and a happy Christmas.
Mr. Ganesh Rao, the President of Parent Teachers Association and Mr. Jayakumar Rai M R, the President of Alumni Association were present on this occasion.
Ms. Sahana Rao and group of St Philomena College sang the prayer song. Prof. Leo Noronha, the Principal of St Philomena College welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, Principal of St Philomena PU College proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Usha Yashavanth, Lecturer, St Philomena PU College compered the programme.

The Campus Director and Chairperson of PG Studies and Research Centre of the College Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro gave his message. He said, ‘Christmas tells us that God became a man. It is an occasion which tells us that we should become good human beings. The real spirit of this festival lies in sharing and caring for each other.’
The IQAC Coordinator Dr A P Radhakrishna gave a message on this occasion. He said, ‘The life and teachings of Jesus Christ are the motivations for all of us. He always thought about the wellbeing of the common people. The celebration of festivals must bring peace, equality, unity and wellbeing in the society.’
Ms Anuradha Bharadwaj B R sang the prayer song. The Principal Prof. Leo Noronha welcomed the gathering. The Principal of PU College Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. The faculty Mr Prashanth Rai compered the programme.
