Committee formed for U Srinivas Mallya Award in city

Mangaluru: Mayor Kavitha Sanil informed that 'U Srinivas Mallya Award' had been constituted and would be conferred upon deserving personalities

"U Srinivas Mallya's birthday is celebrated on November 21. To mark the occasion, we have constituted an award in his name. It will be distributed to most deserving personalities. The date is yet to be finalised. The award ceremony will, in all probability, be held in the month of November. A committee has been formed specifically for bestowing the U Srinivas Mallya award. The committee will consist of five members namely Dr B A Vivek Rai, Dr N K Thingalaya, prof M A Abdul Rehman, prof Rita Noronha and Manohar Prasad," said Maor Kavitha Sanil.

She also said, "Along with U Srinivas Malya award, U Srinivas Mallya Kreeda award, U Srinivas Mallya Shikshana award and U Srinivas Mallya Kala award will be conferred. Decision will be taken by the committee members and the most deserving personalities for the award will be selected. Cash prize of Rs 2 lac will be rewarded with the U Srinivas Mallya award, while cash prize of Rs 50 lac will be rewarded with Kreeda, Kala and Shikshana awards."

Deputy mayor Rajneesh, corporator Ganesh Hosabettu, Premananda Shetty and others were present.
