Course in dental photography launched at MCODS

Manipal A “Certificate course in integrated dental photography”, the first of its kind to be conducted by a dental college in the country, was launched at Manipal College of Dental Sciences here on Saturday. The inauguration of the course was held at the Dr TMA Pai hall and Pro Chancellor Dr H.S.Ballal did the honors.

Dr Nirmala N Rao, Dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal welcomed gathering and said that she was proud to announce that the course was the first of its kind being conducted in a dental college in the country. Dr Ballal in his address congratulated MCODS and the course coordinator, Dr Vidya Saraswathi for initiating the program, which, he said was yet another feather in the cap for MCODS, Manipal. He stated that this was one means of providing job opportunities for dental professionals. He also mentioned that dental photography will improve the methods of teaching and will help in patient education and documentation.

The Guest honor for the event was Mr K Madhavan Pillai, Chief editor, Better Photography. In his address he mentioned that photographs were one of the most significant discoveries of the centuries and it led to progress of science. “Even a tooth has a beautiful landscape that can be liked to Beethoven’s fifth symphony,” he said.
