The students’ council members went around the class rooms and collected the rice. 1.1 quintals of rice and Rs.3430 were collected. The students and faculty visited Spandana, a home for differently abled at santhekette and distributed food packets, spent time with them and handed over the rice, money collected, together with a contribution of Rs.5000 from the college. This is a project which the college is successfully managing for the last five years.” I could see a new world here, which I would never have seen had I missed the opportunity of visiting this place..”We realize God’s blessings seeing all these people. Iam inspired to do something for such people who needs our help” says Anju Mary, the Students’ Council Secretary.

This year a new project is launched called ‘The Wall of Charity’. A room is set apart for keeping usable items and any one is free to take and use it. Dress materials, bags, files, pens, shoes and any such items which can be used are kept in the room. Anyone wanting anything kept there can take and use. Nobody is watching what happens there in the room and therefore there is no need for any hesitation for making use of this facility. At present the facility is provided to the students and in due course it is likely to be extended to all working in the campus.

Mrs.Shalini T.V, alumna and Teacher, Little Rock KG inaugurated the project on 7th October. She appreciated the efforts of the college in introducing such humanitarian activities. She recalled how she was benefitted as a student of Crossland College especially in developing values in life. Helping the needy is God’s work, she added.

The faculty and students are excited about the project. As a student Cibin Koshy of final year B Com puts it’ just like the journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step’, the step taken by us is a step in the right direction. I wish this step lasts forever and the journey continues”. ‘We feel inspired for charity work says Shravan Kumar of final B.A.”A good initiative to make the world a better place to live’ is the feeling of Jerin Abraham of final year B Com.The project is managed by the Extension cell of the college under the guidance of Prof.Reebu Samuel.
