DC warns stern action against attacking scribes

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesh has warned of stern action against anyone who comes in the way of the functioning of the journalists or threaten and assault the latter. The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the district level committee to look into cases of assaults on scribes.

District Information Officer B A Khader Shah who addressed the meeting said there has been three assault cases on journalists in the district from January 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017. Of these one case was in Mangaluru Police Commissionerate limits and another 2 cases in other parts of the district. If two cases are before the court, one case is still under investigation.

DK District Working Journalists Association President Jagannath Shetty Bala, Member Mohammad Arif Padubidri and others were present.
