Depressed youth drowns in pond

Kundapur: A youth met a tragic end when he slipped and fell into a pond without protective fence while passing that way near Bandasale in Hiliyana on December 2, Friday afternoon. The deceased is Shashidhar (21). He was working for a company in Bengaluru. It has been gathered that Shashidhar who suffered from depression used to often visit hometown to get treatment.

On Friday, when Shashidhar was not to be seen around, his family launched a search and found his footwear floating in the pond which was close by his house.

The Shankernarayana Police and fire service personnel were soon informed. The fire service men could not retrieve the body even after a thorough search. Finally, an expert diver from Kodlady managed to retrieve the body.
