Diocese of Mangalore holds mega vehicle rally to mark Christmas Celebration

Mangaluru: Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza, Bishop of Mangalore addressed the people who participated in a mega vehicle rally held on 21-12-2016 on the occasion of Christmas and assembled at Milagres Church grounds and asked them to emulate the values taught and practiced by Jesus.

 

The Bishop said that Jesus came into this world two thousand years ago and planted the seed of Kingdom of God through love and forgiveness. And today this seed has grown into a huge tree which has spread throughout the world giving shelter to the last and least of the society. Millions benefit from the service of the Church founded by Jesus in the form of medical service, education, charity work, social service etc. He asked the people gathered at the programme to carry on the good work of Jesus and reach out to people in their difficulties. He said as part of this celebration he will be distributing Kuswar and clothing to the destitute at St Anthony’s Jeppu on 23rd and also distribute grocery items to HIV/Aids affected families and construction material to a poor family to build house for them.

The vehicle rally was held in four routes i.e. a)Thokottu-Pump well- Falnir-Milagres; b)Urwa-Lalbagh-P.V.S.-Bunts hostel-Jyothi-Milagres; c)Kulshekar-Nanthoor-Bendur-Balmatta-Jyothi-Milagres d) Rosrio-Milagres. People from four deaneries of Mangalore diocese came in two wheelers and four wheelers and assembled at Milagres Church grounds. People came wearing Santa Claus cap and held lighted candles in hand while singing Christmas carols. There were floats and tableaus in the rally depicting the teaching of Jesus.

Fr Onil D’Souza, Director of St Anthony Ashram, Convener of the Social Concern Committee and the organizer of the rally gave an introduction, Mr Ivan D’souza Vice President of Milagres Chruch welcomed the gathering. Mr M.P. Noronha Secretary, Diocesan Pastoral Parishad proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Aloysius compeered the programme.
