Endosulfan victim commit suicide

Kasargod: A woman affected by endosufan committed suicide by hanging herself on November 4 evening at Belluru in Kasargod. The deceased endosulfan victim has been identified as Rajivi (60) resident of Belluru. Her husband Vishwanath had died few years ago.

Rajivi was depressed as she was unable to bear medical expense ofRs 60,000 to treat heart ailment as doctor had suggested surgery and Rs 2,500 for treatment every week. The cost of surgery, which was too much for the family to bear and there was no response on Government’s part. She used to get Rs 1,200 monthly pension .

Her children were daily wage workers. As usual they had left home in the morning for work, when they returned home in the evening they were shocked, found their mother hanging. They immediately informed the matter to police who shifted the body to Government Hospital for autopsy.
