Entrepreneurship workshop held at St Agnes College

Entrepreneurship Development Forum (EDF), Unnathi, of St Agnes College (Autonomous), organised a one day workshop and trade fair – EMPRESARIO to inspire the aspiring entrepreneurs on Thursday, 12 December 2019 in the campus.

The workshop began with the formal inaugural by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Ms. Athmika Amin, Entrepreneur and Director of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sr Dr M Jeswina A.C , Principal, St Agnes college, Dr Devi Prabha Alva, Convenor of the event, Mr Rodney Vaz, Co-Convenor, Ms. Aaisha, the student secretary were the dignitaries present on the dais.

Ms. Athmika Amin addressed the budding entrepreneurs on her journey of becoming an entrepreneur. She also suggested students to make use of the facilities and improve all other traits of an individual along with the academic knowledge to become a better entrepreneur. Sr Dr Jeswina AC in her presidential address said that “Something should ignite from you to take initiation, leadership and you are going to create job for yourself. Desire, determination and goodwill needs to have to become a successful entrepreneur".

The workshop had five different speakers for various sessions on entrepreneurship. Mr. Safan Sheikh, motivational speaker and entrepreneur spoke on entrepreneurship as something that should be build and gained which needs proper direction and commitment. Mr. Ganesh Sharma, regional director of BNI, Mangalore, spoke on time management and significance. Ms. Shubha Baliga, Advocate and former member of legal services authority and former lecturer in Criminology at Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, spoke on Entrepreneurial leadership qualities. Ms. Sanchia Nazareth an alumna and event co-ordinator briefed on Prospects and challenges on start ups. Mr Mohan Raj, Vice-President of BNI, Mangalore and Director, Bright HR Solutions and Services shared his expertise on various facilities and schemes for women Entrepreneurship.

During the lunch break of the college, the student members of EDF conducted a trade fair and had food and game counters which attracted huge crowd with home-made dishes and fun filled games. The day was fruitful and energetic.

In the afternoon sessions, the students shared their experiences of sale and expressed their happiness for gaining the entrepreneurial experience for the first time in their life.
