Ex- professor of Mangalore university Jayagopal Uchil dies in accident

Mangaluru: Jayagopal Uchil, founder-chairman of the Department of Materials Science, Mangalore University, died in a road accident on Hosur Road in Bengaluru on Friday. He was 75. He is survived by his wife Jayasheela and two daughters.

He was shifted to Greenfield’s Hospital, HSR Layout, where he died around 10.45 a.m. The funeral will be on Sunday afternoon at Hebbal crematorium.

He was a former Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology of the university. Prof. Uchil was also a member of Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council of the university.
