Extended block, chapel of Bethel Convent, Permannur inaugurated

Mangaluru: The Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Bethel convent at Permannur, witnessed the inauguration of the new chapel and extension block on Friday. It was inaugurated by Sr M Cicilia Mendonca, the provincial superior of Mangaluru province and blessed by Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangaluru Diocese. The bishop officiated the Mass and it was concelebrated by five priests.

Sr Cicilia Mendonca honoured the architect and the engineer Lawrence Cutinha and the contractor Richard Rodrigues. She also expressed her gratitude to the bishop and appreciated him for being a good shepherd to his flock. The bishop felicitated the parishioners for their generosity and support towards the Sisters. Fr Stany Pinto, assistant parish priest of Permannur, greeted the bishop in anticipation of his birthday and congratulated the Sisters of Bethel Convent for their strenuous efforts in realizing the plan.

Religious sisters of neighbouring convents, parishioners, well-wishers, and Bethany Lay Associates graced the occasion. After the thanksgiving Eucharist, all joined for the fellowship meal. The programme was compeered by Sr Severine Fernandes.
