Udupi: With Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj becoming Minsiter in state cabinet, there has been a huge scale development in Udupi district. And now to promote Uudpi as tourism district, people will be able to hear 25 second-long jingles on hotspots of tourism in Udupi on FM Radio from August 11. The jingles will be broadcast in Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Each jingle has a separate theme. One focuses on beaches in the district such as Malpe, Kaup, Othinene, Padubidri and Bengre Hoode. Another focuses on wildlife such as Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, Kudremukh National Park and river-rafting at the Sitanadi Nature Camp. The third focuses on pilgrimage spots including Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple in Udupi, Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur, Anegudde Vinayaka Temple in Kumbhashi and St. Lawrence Basilica in Attur while the fourth jingle focuses on the Gomateshwara Statue and Chaturmukha Basadi in Karkala, Hastashilpa Heritage Village in Manipal, and the Kota Shivaram Karanth Kala Bhavan in Kota. The fifth jingle focuses on the rich folk culture of the district such as Yakshagana, Bhoota Kola, Pili Nalike, Naga Mandala and Kambala.

While the jingles in English only will be broadcast in Mumbai, a mix of jingles in Kannada and English will be broadcast in Bengaluru and Mangaluru. Meanwhile, the department is also revamping its website: www.udupitourism.com which will also be launched on August 11. The website will provide more details about tourist spots and other aspects of the district.
