Fake Rs 2,000 note emerges in Thokkottu

Mangaluru: An incident of fake Rs 2,000 note was reported on Monday November 14, from Thokkottu. A fisherman near Kallapu in Thokkottu found that he had been cheated with a fake Rs 2,000 note.

The fisherman, identified as Mustafa from Ullal, sells fish in his tempo near Kallapu. On Monday afternoon, he had several customers, many of whom bought fish worth Rs 500 with Rs 2,000 notes and got the change in return. Mustafa accepted all the high currency notes without any problem.

However, in the evening when he was counting his collection for the day, he found that one of the Rs 2,000 notes was fake. The note had been printed from a colour printer, and moreover, the colour and design had faded as the note had come in contact with water.
