Fake vehicle registration racket busted in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: The CCB Police have successfully arrested three persons on the charges of creating fake registration documents of heavy vehicles and then securing loans using these documents. Two trucks and a JCB with fake numbers and some equipment used by the accused, all worth nearly Rs 81.09 lakh have been seized.

The police who acted on a tip off intercepted a route number 3B bus operating on the Mangaluru-Moodushedde route and found that the number plate of the bus bearing registration number KA-19-B-4866 was fake.

The police subsequently arrested the bus owner Naveen Noronha (41) from Ulaibettu, who revealed regarding the scam. Vincent Sequeira(59), the owner of National Engineering Works at Pumpwell where the chassis and number plates were reportedly fixed was also arrested. The third accused Wilfred Mascarenhas of Neermarga too was arrested.
