Famed artist K Pundalika Shenoy passes away

Mangaluru: K Pundalika Shenoy, famed as an artist passed away on Tuesday, at the age of 79. He leaves behind four children. Kerala Lalithakala Akademiand Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi honoured Pundalika, who carved a niche for self with his collage art and philosophy based paintings.

After retiring as senior manager from Corporation Bank, Chennai branch, Shenoy completely involved himself with art. A unique facet of Pundalika is that he never sold any of his paintings but found satisfaction in gifting some.

An art critic, he conducted about 20 exhibitions. His family has preserved 150-odd of his paintings at his residence. A theosophist, Shenoy delivered many lectures in India and abroad. People who knew Pundalika’s genius as an artist said he preferred to keep a low profile and away from publicity and his talent was widely recognized in artistic circles.
