Shirva: The new fish market in Shirva was inaugurated a year ago during November 2015 by then district in charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake. But as the construction quality is being exposed now, Shirva Panchayath president Vaarija Poojarthy has alleged that the construction is done with poor quality.

The fish market was built by Nirmiti Kendra through sub-contract works with a cost of Rs 85 lakhs from the funds provided Coastal Development Authority. The construction work was done in quick time during panchayath elections, but the quality is very poor.

Recently a fish truck tires caved into the pit as the interlock tiles collapsed in some places. This angered the fisherwoman and they asked the panchayath president to call the contractor to the spot. The police officials came there and after panchayath president assured to resolve the issue soon.
