Foreigner converts to Hinduism to get married to her lover

Puttur: Caroline Margaret Rovli, an American citizen, acquired the Hindu name, Vishakha and married Vikram Kamath. Vikram Kamath from Mangaluru is employed in an insurance firm in USA. Caroline got to know Kamath four years ago. The two became friends and in course of time, turned lovers.

Now they have entered wedded life. Vikram, who accompanied his lover to his native place, married her here with the help of his relatives . As per Hindu traditions, the girl has to be entrusted to the care of the groom through 'Kanyadana', a procedure in which the father or in his absence, an elderly relative from father's side, hands over her to the groom. As the bride's parents were not available, Gopikrishna Shenoy and Radhika Shenoy couple donned the role of Caroline's parents and completed this ritual.

K Vishwas Shenoy and Shanti Shenoy couple stepped in the shoes of her in-laws. Vedamurty Diwakar Bhat officiated the marriage procedures.
