Former chief minister Kumarswamy says controversy over Iftar unnecessary

Published On : 28 Jun 2017   |  Reported By : Rons Bantwal

Kukke: "The controversy over the Iftar meet organised by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Paryaya Pejawar Mutt is unnecessary. Through the Iftar get-together, the seer has sent a good message to the society," said JD(S) State Chief and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.

He was speaking to reporters after visiting Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and Kukke Subrahmanya Temple. Kumaraswamy said that such programmes go a long way in shunning communal hatred in the society. Asking those who are opposed to the Pejawar seer not to speak lightly about the seer, Kumaraswamy lashed out at Mutalik for criticising the seer and questioned who gave him the patent to speak for Hindus.

He said he was visiting places of worship to seek the blessings of the Almighty for his party so that it could win the next elections and form a government in the state. Kumaraswamy offered Tulabhara Seve at Dharmasthala and Ashlesha Bali at Subrahmanya. He was accompanied by his wife Anitha and son Nikhil.
